Dino-mite Sensory bin!

Are you ready for some roaring fun? This month's theme is all about dinosaurs, and we're going to dig up some exciting learning opportunities for your little ones.

Now, as a preschool teacher, I know that one of the best ways to engage children's senses and stimulate their imagination is through sensory play. And what better way to explore the prehistoric world than through a dinosaur-themed sensory bin?

So, I went ahead and created a sensory bin that will make your preschooler's jaws drop.  But before we dive into the fun, let's talk about why sensory play is so important for children's development.

Sensory play is a crucial aspect of a child's development, as it allows them to explore and make sense of the world around them. Through sensory play, children engage their senses - touch, taste, sight, smell, and hearing - to discover new textures, sounds, and sensations.

Not only is sensory play enjoyable and fun for children, but it also has many benefits for their development. Sensory play can help children to develop their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and cognitive skills. It can also promote language development, as children learn new words to describe the textures, smells, and sounds they experience.

Now, onto the fun stuff! In this Dino-mite sensory bin I used:

• brown fish tank gravel
• fish tank fake plants
• Melissa & Doug wooden puzzle pieces
• Learning Resources bucket and rake
• White plastic eggs
• I did add in another mesh scoop later on

Remember, sensory play is all about exploring and having fun. Use whatever items you have on hand and don't be afraid to get messy and try new things. Your child will love the opportunity to play and learn at the same time!
